You've got it.
It always puzzled me how i WAS fair haired (now a lovely shade of grey) yet I have 7 children with red hair, 5 with very dark hair and the other 8 are auburn.

Well therein is the puzzle.
I always used condoms.
I asked the milkman for his advice as he is redheaded.
I then asked the bread man as he is dark haired and finally my auburn haired neighbour......all to no avail.
My wife told me I worry too much

My Dad was a redhead with brown eyes, but my Mum and 2 siblings were... Are... Dark brown haired with brown eyes... And yet, I am blonde with blue/grey eyes.
I think I'm the recessive gene.
... Either that or I was adopted or something!

My Mum was apparently a vivid red head when she was young
apparently she solved a family problem
her older brother was born with red hair - and there had never been a red head in either family
which caused "some suspicions" - but never from my Grand-dad, just some of his relations
then my Mum arrived several years later with the same hair and the relations shut up
I have always been very fair skinned a and had very fair hair
when I grew a beard, there was a serious red tinge to it
(and "some other hairs" !!)
