Has anybody noticed an increase in the number of cars running about with tinted or blacked out back and rear passenger windows? I thought I was imagining it then my next door neighbour pulls up in his Focus and he'd had it done. I asked him why and he looked at me like I was stupid and said " It's the mobile innit" Turns out 2 other blokes where he works have had it done for the same reason. If you are on the phone while you're driving it's much harder for a copper to spot you unless they are alongside you.
I don't know why he bothered. There are so few police around here lately that the odds on you getting a pull are enormous.

Burn down his house, stab anyone that tries to escape the flames. That'll learn 'im.

Nuke him from space. It's the only way to be sure.....

I assume there's a correlation which cannot be entirely accounted for by "young and male" or the insurers wouldn't need to know whether a car has been modified in order to calculate premiums - giving them your age and gender would tell them all they need.
Good point, but some mods make the car go faster and/or more expensive to repair.
Plus, the insurers want to avoid invalidating the driver's policy by discouraging them from making illegal mods.

Modifications also change the desirability of the car which can go towards an increased risk of theft. There is also an element of risk increase from simply modifying the car, what will lowering the car 35mm actually do to the CV joins & the handling dynamics? Yes you lower the CoG which is a good thing but you also are changing the way the car rolls on the suspension when it corners. These factors are applied to all drivers be it careful or aggressive drivers.
