Crossing the Forth Road Bridge today I passed 2 of their maintenance crews, nothing unusual about that but one of them had a big sweeping machine and the other was following it with brushes and shovels to sweep up the rubbish off the cycle lane. Wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it

now why the hell would they want to do that? Hasn't anyone told them that they have to dump as much crap and detritus as possible on to the cycle lane rather then clean it up.

Is "Sweeping The Forth Bridge Cycle Lane" likely to become an expression for something-or-other?

Mate of mine once saw a gritting lorry in Thatcham, closely followed by a road-sweeper lorry...
