Last night, I checked BBC Weather, MetCheck, XCWeather and Accuweather. All said "dry, with a chance of rain in the late evening". So, on that wealth of information, I turned down the offer of a lift from a colleague.

Woke up this morning, and it's horsing it down. BBC Breakfast lady says "rain", looked back at the BBC site - "dry". Even their own forecast, from the same corporation, don't agree!
To add salt to the wound, the BBC have updated their website now to "Heavy Rain Showers" and have told me I'm gonna get soaked on the way home too!

Given that cyclists are supposed to get "12 good soakings a year", and that I've had about 5 in the last week, I reckon for the rest of the year I should be sorted.

I watched the Met. Office forecasts yesterday, they repeatedly showed no rain for Swindon but this morning it was torrential, rivers and lakes of water everywhere, still it was quite cooling while wearing my boil in the bag stuff, so got to work nice and dry'ish.

I always use my local BBC radio station for the most frequently accurate forecast. They don't always get it right but more right than most!! Today's was rain &/or heavy rain - they got that right!

And i'm as dry as a temperance meeting.

Didn't you listen to BBC Bristol radio this morning ... he was saying how even he was surprised when he saw the rain on his screen this morning and thought that it hadn't updated itself from yesterday... and apologised several times mentioning how the computer got it wrong....

I'm lucky ... I'm literally just setting off now ... and it appears to have stopped. so I'm taking but not wearing the waterproofs... they reckon more rain later.

I need to go out at 1 pm and should be back by about 2:30. It's the one part of the day the Met Office and Met Check agree should be dry.

What are the chances that I'll go out by bike in the dry and come back soaked?

Could be worse, at least it is fairly warm. It also does a good job of rinsing away some of the salt on the roads.
(Today is a glass half full day )

Mark our weather forecaster (Ian Ferguson) tweeted this morning that their computer model had not predicted it and it caught them all out. I always watch the local video forecast on BBC website as I never trust their pictures on the website as I find they dont seem to resemble reality!

I changed my clothing appropriately but my feet got soaked as I still dont have proper shoes or overshoes!

Metcheck is notoriously unreliable. I wouldn't go near them.
BBC News last night correctly forecast rain this morning.

BBC News last night correctly forecast rain this morning.

The BBC News forecast at 6 this morning showed no rain in Swindon but 20 minutes later, the next forecast showed lots of rain. It was also raining very heavily from the time I woke up at 5.15.

I think the problem is, Swindon may have been right on the boundary between dry and wet areas: i.e. on the front itself, in which case it would be impossible to pinpoint exactly which side of the boundary it ended up. For us in Sussex, well into the rain-affected area, there was no ambiguity.
