Trying to get the machine and the strips required to allow me to do these.

My problem is it isn't for anything diabeties related. Makes getting hold of the machine nigh on impossible. Without that, there's no need for the strips(which appear to be tailored to the machine).

Anyone have practical experience of getting hold of the machine, and actually using one.

Ask your specialist, GP or pharmacist? Or whoever has recommended you to get one?

The nurse at my doctor's gave me one that a medical rep had given to her... and I got another one from the hospital after they took my pancreas out.

I don't recommend having yours out in order to get one though! I suggest asking your doctor.

EDIT: I think you could buy one from a chemist actually but the testing strips might have to be prescribed by your doctor.

I nearly lost mine a few years ago. They managed to save somewhere between 5 and 50% of it and I have regained full function enzyme wise and partial function insulin wise but am told its not likely to last long term. Ive been diagnosed type 1 diabetic and then promptly undiagnosed once already after it had a wobble last year  You dont realise how useful these pesky organs are until they start buggering you about
