About a year ago, I, due to various reasons got rid of my e-mail facility, and I thought that it had all but stopped.

Today, I got it all set up again and, well, blow me, it was working all that time so, I now have in my inbox, wait for it........

53,687 messages!! :blush::laugh:

Half of them are probably message notifications for on here anyway!

I had a similar thing when I (stupidly) resurrected an old email address. I put them in alphabetical sender order and found the 3 that I wanted to read and deleted the rest :laugh: I then emailed the person who was still using the old address and gave her the new one. ntlworld addy is now gone gone gone.

My Windows Mail has around 40 'message rules'. When I had a PC issue and had to wipe the computer and start again, with no rules in place, I got around 25 mails from firms I'd bought from once long ago and had no intention of using any time soon plus a dozen or so a day from Spammers, and other ne'er do wells. I also get around a dozen mails a day where I glance at the header and mostly delete without going into the body of the mail. I've reinstated the rules now but it was an eye opener just how much crap is generated each day.

Spam spam spam spam
spam, wonderful spam ...

I took a look at the webmail access to an old account I haven't used for 3 years last week. Over 5000 messages, all as far as I could see were adverts, phishing, or other malicious rubbish. They got deleted. The account is now back in use for a project, the rubbish is still coming, and the junk filter on my email client is working well.

Thats almost 100 spam messages per day.

Almost everything seen so far have been message notifications and so on from this site, so CC obviously creates a lot of crap in its own right!!

Bit like that at work if you have a couple of weeks leave. Most of them are something like "Did anyone video Eastenders last night, I missed it!" But if you delete them all you can be sure there's one in there reminding you to send your unsocial hours form in or you won't get paid for the next six months.
