Mr Celine

Discordian
I'm used to the usual hazards of mud all over the road or hawthorn clippings causing punctures but today's ride was spoiled by what must have been an overloaded grain trailer which had spilled heaps of grain all over the carriageway. It's like trying to ride on marbles.
Thank you Mr Farmer that's two badly scuffed shifters, two large patches of roadrash, a big lycra burn, four scraped fingers and a sore elbow.

I don't think Mr Farmer would have been amused to hear of his crop creating a skid pan.

Yep, it's harvest time and farmers are busy bringing it all in, but it doesn't mean they are immune from the law..
VOSA, or whatever they call themselves these days, would call it an unsafe load..

How much was spilt though? Often what makes it onto other parts of the trailer only comes off on the road. Slow & steady speed round the field, with an increase in speed when they get to the road.

Irrelevant though, losing a load is losing a load. Black and white.

Harvest time happened mostly round these parts a couple of weeks ago and you have to be careful, there's no getting round it. Oddest thing this year was riding through a patch of spilt crop that stuck to my tyres for a short while that made it look like I was riding with tyres lines with fluff!
yep - playing with a mobile phone whilst driving a tractor is about par for the course round here, I know one or two who genuinely don't believe it is illegal in such a slow vehicle (even though they can do nearly 40mph) in fact I get the impression from some that traffic laws simply don't apply to agricultural vehicles (including their range rovers)
Not to mention the 25mph speed limit for tractors that they all ignore.

They'd much the same here in middle Englandshire, depositing their crap all over the road. Its an offence to deposit anything on or over a highway which could endanger a user of that highway, and I have been known to dob in the worst offenders.

As for our OP, I'm glad he Ok'ish. Might be worth contacting the MIB with your bill for damages and injury, as your off was caused by a motor vehicle which is unidentified.

Good luck.

The worse stuff around here is the rape, those little black balls are so hard to see and really make life hard work.
