Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from West Midlands Police, said: “A young boy has been critically injured and his family are clearly devastated. We have specialist officers supporting them at this difficult time.

“We are urgently appealing for anyone with information who hasn’t already spoken to us to make contact.

"We are particularly keen to hear from anybody who witnessed the collision or may have CCTV or dash-cam footage.

What does that make people like me who will use a camera whilst cycling?

Some insurance companies insist on one(dashcam) being fitted. Shops and some houses have their own CCTV on the outside. A request like the one made was commonplace years ago.

Nowhere near as serious as this but after I rang the police to report a traffic light being knocked over & providing the reg of the car involved they rang back and asked if I had camera footage. Clearly it makes their life easier if they can see how something happened.

I couldn't find the other long thread about alleged "snitches on bikes" unfairly getting drivers into hot water from their driving offences. Thought it was interesting that the POLICE are encouraging drivers to "snitch" now
(which is of course a Good Thing!)
A lads been knocked over and they want any evidence. Can't see any issue/problem?
