ouch, near same accident as me a couple of weeks ago. Great to hear no damage and you shook hands. Same as with the chap that turned into me.
Though my ribs are still not 100%

Glad you're ok and that it was a"friendly" collision. My commute took me down that road for 18 months and always wondered when I was going to get taken out there. Luckily it never happened! I'd recommend a beer to calm your nerves...

Glad you're ok. I had similar but a couple of months ago and did a floppy somersault which thankfully meant nothing worse than bruises and a dodgy finger. I had an ambulance right next to me, result! The bike didn't fare so well though :-(

Happened to me about 15 years ago.
Old guy (who I thought I had made eye contact with) turned right on me as I was going down hill. Wouldn't mind but he waited for what seemed like ages before he turned in front of me.
I hit his left front wing, flew over bars and hit windscreen with head and shoulder.
Windscreen was pushed in and momentarily I was in the car about 6 inches from the guys face. I then turned onto my back, slid down the bonnet and landed on my feet in front of car.
Bike was mashed and I needed shoulder pinning and front dental work. Doc told me if I had hit window/roof section with head then I would probably have been dead.

At the time I was more concerned for the old boy who, to be honest, was pretty shook up. I drove his car to his bungalow and ended up making him a cup of tea while he rang for his daughter. Its a funny world!

that stretch of road should be entitled 'there's no point in going faster than ten miles an hour'. There really isn't. If you're in a hurry, take another road. Go north from Amen Corner to Tooting Common.

There are compensations. I defy anybody returning home and passing from the Broadway to the Bec after a long run to not order a curry when they get home.

Shoot..man......lucky.......

Been there....

Motoring at over 25 mph, 2 lanes southbound..... level with a transit van who is in the right hand lane...... he decides to turn left.........

I went through his wing mirror, flew about 20 metres and landed in the ped walkway inside a load of scaffolding...... the bike bit the scaffolding......top tube u shaped.... driver did one......

Drivers on 'other' side of road stopped as they saw my superman impression.........

Got part reg, but before the days of computers - a few weeks in a cast, and a new frame via my house insurance............

Hence a rather nice 653 Pearl White (metallic) Graham Weigh became the Ribble 653 I have now...... team Green/white.........

same thing for me, went over the roof landed hand first this both smashed my wrist and pealed the palm of my hand back. i couldn't ride a bike again for ten years, my custom built bike was trash. then i discovered recumbent:laugh: . i have now done nine months and loving it. cant grip with my right had still, all because a tw£% in a car was almost blind he couldn't make out who was taking to him from ten yards away. he got no point, no fine and tyred to claim of me for damage to his car.
police i hear you shout!....... not interested.

Hi CoG

Good to hear you got off lightly, hope you're feeling OK this morning - what with the bump, beer, wine etc. etc.!

Arrrghhh, CofG I told you that stretch would get us sooner rather than later. Glad to hear it wasn't more serious.

I really want to see how the "SuperHighway" engineers will deal with 14 + side roads in 1km between Broadway and Bec, loading access, illegal parking, a partial bus lane, congestion etc

There's always Franciscan Road.

Get a helmet camera and we can admire your acrobatics (and you could make money selling the footage to the Sun!)

I love that stretch of road, very tempting to blatt along though, and the side turnings are certainly hazardous. Glad you're OK. Fond memories of racing along from Clapham to Morden to meet (and snog) the fledgling Mrs FF.
The sights and sounds of Tooting made me appreciate our multi-cultured nation after a lifetime being raised in Devon.... Nowadays the Cowley road is a poor substitute but fun to blast along nonetheless!
