Blue/ white pedals for beginner

I'd stick to the standard silver or black pedals TBH. Painted finished will look manky in no time after you've clipped in and out a few times.

Never heard of 9 degree cleats, but there's loads of things I've never heard of TBH.

From your link I assume you're after SPD-SL pedals, and Shimano do 2 degree, 6 degree and fixed float cleats for them, see HERE.

FYI - all Shimano SPD-SL pedals are shipped with yellow 6 degree cleats, and TBH these are fine for most riders, in fact as a newcomer to clipless pedals I'd advise you use them as you will probably find the bit of float they give you a benefit.

[EDIT] Easytigers makes a good point regarding SPD pedals. If you want to walk around then forget SPD-SL's and stick to SPD's. Personally when I go out I just ride and have no need or reason to walk any distance, plus SPD-SL shoes offer a stiffer platform as well, but it's horses for courses again isn't it?

Hi there. Just my two-penneth! When starting out, I went for the mtb style M520s...this meant that I could have shoes that I could walk around in with the benefits of being clipless. TBH I then went for the r540s...I lasted a couple of months before returning to the M520s...not saying would happen but you can pick them up for about £15 and would be a good entry point :-)
Have fun!

Maybe I was being stupid with the 9 degree thing!

I've already purchased a pair of Lake wide fit shoes, which I noticed had positive reviews for comfort, and they certainly feel an absolutely perfect fit. So, walking around in those isn't an option anyway!

I'm getting a white and blue bike this week, hence my desire for colour coding! You definitely think white is a pointless choice?

And are the shimano peddles still suitable having said the above points? (I've no idea if certain shoes are only compatible with certain peddles/ cleats)

Thanks for the replies!!

Not at all, but your mate might have been

My road shoes are Lake, (CX236), and they've been great shoes TBH. Without a link, or knowing exactly which yours are I can't be sure about compatibility TBH.

I'd forgotten about the white SPD-SL pedals, they'll be OK but will still get tatty quite quickly. I'd co-ordinate the pedals with the chainset myself.
