you think Earl is good , you should hear his grandson Chris Scruggs. Absolutely brilliant. but his mother is one of the best female country producers , Gail Davies. ( my Sister in law BTW )

In recent years I think it can be argued that his influence, or rather the influence of his style of playing and his recordings, has not been entirely positive for modern bluegrass/nu-grass musicians. He was an innovator and a gifted technician but the genre has suffered by constant comparison/reference to his stylistic benchmark.

There, I've said it.
