Hi, I'm new to BMX maintenance as it does not seem to require much since I purchased it.

So recently I managed to break my outer tire because of forgetting to set my brake pads correctly. I've looked at some tires online, but I can't seem to find the width I need. My rim's width is 2.20, so here's my question:

Would a 2.30 / 2.10 outer tire be okay to use with a 2.20 rim?

Yes

Be careful

There are a variety of 20" rims and a 2" difference in their size

Best bet is to look at theorem for a number xx-yyy

The xx can be changed (tyre width), but the yyy is fixed and cannot be changed

There are 2 common sizes of BMX rims 451 IIRC and 406 the difference is almost 2 inches in rim diameter
451 relates to the size 20 x 13/4 ( english/imperial ) and 20 x 1.75 ( the most common size)
these rims usually can take tyre widths between 1.5 and 2.2 . 1.95 being the most common
