I know this is very different from what most of you are used to. I've still got my BMX, it's been hanging up in the shed for a few years now and I fear it'll never be used again but it's hard to beat for liberating fun, and equally as impressive to watch.

I just thought I'd throw in a few video clips. Some of you would have once rode these things, maybe even still do? To others it might be something of an introduction, perhaps an insight into the creative use of architectual space on two wheels? And I have no doubt there will be those who are simply annoyed by it. But maybe it'll generate some interest and inspire discussion. Or maybe it won't...

All from the Etnies video, Grounded. Someone in another thread claimed BMX was for kids. These are fully grown warriors if you ask me.

Nice riding, you think he's crazy putting himself through some of them crashes but when he nails it, its absolutely awesome. Definitely not just for kids.
Good to see how it has progressed absorbing elements from skateboarding and trials.

I always wanted a Raleigh Burner - then I seen some of the BMX's that lads in the local park had and their was some lad with a Mongoose: big bunch of lads with various bikes = competition for the best tricks: fantastic !

All this down the road from me ~ absolute hedonism

My niece's boyfriend used to do freestyle stuff - we've seen his vids on you-tube - crazy jumps and stuff. Believe it's 20" and 26" freestyle bikes....

He packed it in due to injuries and cost, but it thinking about starting again... he's only 17 !

Thanks for sharing this Odyssey.
The guys that do this stuff are absolutely amazing. They're so at one with their bikes, it's like part of their bodies.

Still have my old BMX. Its abit old, and heavy.
I never got around to doing any real tricks. I used to jump down stairs on it and just race round on it. Used to have no grip at ll on grass, and about the scariest thing i did on it really was go down a steep grass bank, brake too hard, have the back slide out and fall over. I slide down on my arse and tried not to look too stupid.
;)
Those guys have some real skill though, i dont think i could do it. I've always found it interesting to watch them. Some of those falls look painful though. ;)
