Good afternoon,

Just landed on this forum and straight away after advice.

I'm looking to buy a bike on the cycle2work scheme and I'm a bit confused. Have a mountain bike and looking for something for the daily commute. Also want to be able to do a bit of road riding with a local club.

Will these bikes be left for dead by the road bikes? I accept I will have to buy road tyres for the full package but will the bike by noticably slower?

Is the team worth the extra money?

Thanks in advance.

I've owned a Boardman CX Team for two years and love every bit of it, and no it will not be disgraced on the road, I use Continental ultra gatorskins 25's on mine and it just cruises along at an average of 22 MPH without any problems, nice and smooth on the road, it's a great bike "Period". The sram double tap shifting is silky smooth too and very easy to use IMHO it's the best bike I've every bought and I've owned a few in my time

Given a choice between the Boardman CX and a carbon framed road bike, I'll stick with the Boardman any day of the week.

Yes there great bikes. I've had a cx team for about 2 years now and it's been flawless

I maintain it regularly and it's just had a service at my LBS

I have been swayed by traditional road bikes that weigh 1kg less but I've come to the realisation that it won't make me any faster. It me that needs to loose the KG's not the bike!

I have 25c conti gp4000s on mine and it does drastically improve the handling

outlash

also available in orange
I'm looking at the CX comp as a winter/light tourer bike and it looks like it'll do the job fine. I think it'll serve your needs too .
