Going to order this bike this week and mainly going to be on the road with some cycling on the canal bank.

Looking at the tyres they look may a little thin for the canal back i.e look as though they could be prone to punctures.

Anyone know if I can buy other wheels / tyres for it just for the canal bank cycling?

The tyres spec'd are Maxxis detonator 28C, aren't they?

Depends on the path you're using, but I think run at less than max pressure, they'd be ok.

Whether you can fit larger tyres depends on how much clearance there is between the tyre & frame, and what size the rims fitted to the bike are (not shown on the boardman website, unfortunately).

28C equates approximately to the width of the old 1 1/4 tyres on older bikes. I used to cycle regularly on canal towpaths with those with no modern punture protection. I can't recall any real problems. They will be fine.
