*Car driver 1* oh shoot oh shoot oh shoot, swerve, speed off, crushing glasses
*car drivers 2-5* I'm not getting involved, I've got places to be! swerve, drive off
*car drivers 6-7* oh crap, puts on hazard flashers, one stops ahead, one behind, shielding downed body from traffic.

I took a tumble today, and landed face first. I didn't know which way was up until the ambulence arrived, and ended up on a stretcher, whisked away to A&E.

One of my glasses lense's shattered on impact, and I've had to pick the bits out myself, the other, well, my glasses got flattened by drivers 1-5.

What is wrong with people these days, I wasn't moving, I didn't even know which way was up for crying out loud!
And yet five people didn't stop, the first one gunned their engine to get away as quick as they could.

What is the world coming to, when it's acceptable to leave an injured person in the road?

/rant

Fracture clinic tomorrow for my thumb, I'd kept a grip on the handlebars when I went down, so instead of knackering the usual suspects, I've managed to get the really odd ones.

Get well soon, Agree with the sentiment, bunch of knobs have no sense of compassion, but this is getting much more common nowadays - people just want to look the other way ;)

Well, firstly commiserations and sympathy. Hope you heal well and get someone to pamper you a bit.

On people driving off, I despair at that. I have no answer but to thank the fact that people did stop for you, that gives me faith.

Same thing happened to me, ten or so years ago - I got clipped by some pillock trying to get past me by a traffic island, and because I fell onto the pavement, the other cars all just carried on.

Get well soon - and at least someone did stop for you.

My bike, well it's at a doctor's surgery somewhere. ;)

A&E for four hours, so they'd closed by the time I was out, getting a lift tomorrow from my dad to pick it up if it's still around, thank them for looking after it, and me.

should be rideable, if my hand/wrist wasn't knackered.

That's awful, Twiggy. Hope it heals soon and that there's no lasting damage.

Sadly, most people don't care these days. I had an incident the other month there (you'll find it in the Commuting threads somewhere) and no-one stopped to check I was OK. They just honked their horns and shouted at me to get up off the road and out of the way as the lights were green !;)

Big hugs Twigs, what a bunch of *****.

It's not a modern phenomenon either BTW, I remember my old Head Master giving it all 'these days' and 'what is this country coming to?' about the hundreds of passers by who stepped around and over a downed man in a central London doorway one afternoon. In 1975! If you imagine that people haven't always been ***** then you're very naive.

Hope you are ok twiggy.I had a few offs and people have asked if I was ok but I just wanted them to bugger off because I felt like a fool.;)

Then again yours is a different matter.

I forgot. How's your bike?

I am always amused by this site!

The same thing crossed mey mind -

Cyclist Ok apart from minor injuries. [Check]

Then the important bit

How is the Bike?

So glad it wasn't worse and at least two drivers did have the sense to act appropriately. Enjoy your time in the fracture clinic with all the revelles who fell over last night at the party!

It's a key part of Jhekle and Hyde, in that Mr Hyde steps over a young boy who fell over in the street, attracting shock from passers by.

Ironically, I was heading to my doctors when I came off. So didn't manage to sort the jobs I needed to do there.
