I love the word Tac it seems to cover a multitude of things.

I also have to say that the subtitle translators are a heck of a lot better than those used by BBC news . It's quite hilarious to see some of the bloomers they make.

Trouble is, I have picked up a few words of Danish but I couldn't say if the subtitles are good or not. Spiral now... my French is pretty fluent and I'm always muttering corrections. Well, not always. Depends who's on screen...

I have a Danish friend who found the subtitles to Borgen and the Killing extremely irritating. Spiral, if I remember correctly, seemed idiomatic if not particularly literal.

Has anybody seen BRAQUO. This has been recommended to me as I liked Spiral. Just wondered if others would also recommend it before trying to source it.

I haven't watched much of Borgen, but if the subs are similar to that of The Killing I'd say they are pretty good.

I didn't see it, I think it was on Sky which I don't have. I think the general chat was that the first series was great and the second a bit risible.

Re Borgen, I'm a bit trepidatious about the English Love Affair with Him Off Monarch of the Gloom. But it looks as though the political machinations are going to be pretty front and centre, which is what I like so much about the series. That, and spotting all the members of the cast from The Killing, of course.

One of the members of the cast of Spiral certainly makes me mutter and stutter. ;)

It is however released on bluray on 16th December so i'll wait to buy that before indulging in some Sidse Babett Knudsen :wahhey:

Of course, Borgen's theme tune is good, but 'The Killing' (Forbrydelsen) theme is really good too.

For the uninitiated, the first 4.04 minutes is the music they play at the end of each episode, showing the ongoing investigation/people involved, etc etc, without any sound, just the music. It then starts to escalate until you get the theme tune 'proper' with the woman's voice, humming in that soulful, melancholy way, almost as though its a piece of music from the middle east.

You really have to see it played out on screen to get the full effect, but as far as theme tunes go, its right up there with the best IMHO!:

By the way, that is a really good picture of Troells Haartman from 2.12 to 2.22. Just saying, like.
