Hill Wimp

Fair weathered, fair minded but easily persuaded.
I have to agree the music in all of them is very well chosen including in all the Arne Dahl episodes. All in all i think the programmes are well written, produced, cast and acted. The French and the Scandinavians are certainly providing top class dramas.

I think we should have one channel dedicated to them 7 days a week.

I suppose this could be my real reason for watching Borgen and The Killing :shy:

The subtitling in Montalbano seems to be giving the gist rather than a literal translation too, from the odd words and names that I can pick up in the million mile an hour delivery.

I think when the older Montalbano slips into his highly gestural Sicilian it has to keep up somehow. (Stopped watching the young one I'm afraid.)

yeah, I got quite drawn into the young one by series end, but TBH I was a bit disapointed with the 'old' Montalbano series just finished, it seemed a bit less credible and credulous than the earlier old M's. I wonder if they recommissioned it and knocked them out in a bit of a hurry.

I used to find them hard to get through - being an hour and a half long, and we always watched them quite late at night as we would record them. I used to find the lilt of the accent incredibly soporific and would nod off about 2/3rds in.

I also think they suffered from trying to be too funny - given that they'd left all the politics out, and a lot of the grim edge, the balance of the books had gone.

I did love The Bridge - they've had a US version which we haven't had, but of course "The Tunnel" was on Sky so hardly anyone's seen it. I wonder if it will turn up on 5 one day. Anyway, agree, can't wait for the new series.

There is a Welsh programme that's been made bilingually - can't remember the name - it's being shown on TV in Wales but we have to have the English version. I think there's been a lot of outcry among fans like us of Euro-drama to have it shown in the Welsh version. I would much rather watch it in Welsh, for heaven's sake it's one of our national languages and we never ever hear it. I think the last time I heard Welsh spoken was when Ioan Gruffudd was on Graham Norton and he chatted with a Welsh girl in the audience.

Just seen both eps (had to record it).

Never mind the politics, some great bike action! Love the thought of Katrine as our own Jon Snow - but without the helmet or hi-viz.

Really enjoyed the two episodes - and I expect Hill Wimp you were enjoying seeing Philip roaring with laughter - has that EVER happened in either Borgen or the Killing?
