bottom bracket/bearings query

hello all

Going to replace the bottom bracket on the commuter - have a Sora Shimano 8 speed chainset. Please see link below which is when I was going to sell the chainset...

What bearings/bottom bracket would you be best to buy? I know that the bb on my bike isn't compatible with the chainset as I removed the current chainset and the new one didn't fit on.

Ah, it's the new sort. I've only fitted one of these. I'd be taking the bits to your LBS and buying the bits that fit, as I don't know if the new sort of BB is a drop in fit for frames designed around square taper or Isis BBs. One word of warning, get a decent C spanner, the cheap ones chew up the paint on the bearing holders.

What was wrong with sq taper type BBs anyway?

thanks, from my memory- I think the old BB is square taper.
