I've been commuting 150 miles a week on my trusty Genesis Croix De fer for about a year and a half now the bottom bracket died about 3 months ago and was replaced by a local bike shop, problem I have is that it's failed again by the looks of it (the pedals arms have some wobble to them) It's only a slight wobble but I know from experience that it's the beginning of the end for them!

Is it worth it upgrading the bottom bracket to something a little more sturdy? I must admit it's all a bit confusing looking at the range of bottom brackets available .....

Your bottom bracket shouldn't fail in 3 months of that usage - I'd take it back to the bike shop that replaced it and ask them to take a look. Might be loose?
