Hello all,

Can anyone tell me which way I need to turn to unscrew my bottom bracket? It won’t budge!

Your bike is a Marin so it will have a conventional bottom bracket.
The chainring side unscrews clockwise, i.e. the opposite way to normal.
The other side unscrews anticlockwise as normal.

And cartridge. Best ones in my opinion.

In which case I would highly recommend one of these

though there are simpler more generic things using a screw-in bolt and big washer.

The normal BB tool is an abomination - almost guaranteed to slip with anything problematical.
Nah. You don't need anything that fancy.
Put the tool in place. Get the original crank fixing nut and a big washer. Screw the nut in back and the big washer will hold the tool in place. One mighty heave and you can remove nut and washer.

agree there are other ways - i do have a bolt/washer thing as well.
But the tacx tool is good
and the normal tool an abomination.
unfit for purpose in my view, even with a BB that isn't especially difficult.
I'd always use a lock-on tool.
