Bought a Trek Valencia :-)

Went to look at a Trek 7.3 in Sunset Cycles Cardiff staff were friendly and knowledgeable .I knew they didnt have my size from our phone conversation but went to look.

I sat on a 20 inch Valencia just to check the sizing but liked it went out for a ride,liked it even more so took the plunge and bought it. Have ridden it about 10 miles and cant stop smiling and nipping out the shed every 10 minutes to look at it .

Needless to say its been raining all afternoon but who cares

Thanks for the comments.Ive done about 20 miles now including going to work in pouring rain,still very happy.Originally I had decided on a 7.3 Trek but I had one niggle with it that it has two cables running down the bottom down tube about an inch apart. I was concerned that the clamp on my roof rack bike carrier would nip the cables .The Valencia has one cable under the tube which doesnt interfere with the clamp.

Also liked the disc brakes ,theres lots of hills around here so braking without grinding away the rims appealed to me .Also liked the cables run inside the top tube which gives it a clean simple look.

Handle bars are wider than my last bike and a longer reach which I quite like.

I had considered a Specialized Sirrus Sport which is a lovely bike but the reach seemed short for me .Also had slight concerns about 700x28 tyres on the Sirrus ,our roads are pretty rough and I do a bit of rough gravel tracks etc which I thought the 32 tyres on the Trek would handle better.

After test riding the Valencia I knew I wanted it.

Great bikes aren't they... I bought mine about a month ago. I wasn't planning to spend that much but the lbs let me take it out for a run round. Got back to the shop and started haggling on price! I had been looking at a few alternatives in different shops but these were the first to offer the chance of a ride out. A bit if trust got the sale.
