He might have recovered by now. The programme was recorded on 11th December.

After I discovered that the programme was pre-recorded well in advance a couple of years ago, I stopped watching it. A colleague stumbled across the programme being recorded in a different studio to the one that she was participitating in a quizz show. I thought that it was a wind up.

A quick summary of some of the howlers can be found here

I twigged that when I switched on the subtitles so that we could sing along with Auld Lang Syne. Noticed that Jool's greetings came up on Ceefax before he said them.

I don't watch the countdown as I know it's recorded and find all the interviews made to appear as if it is NYE a bit naff. I'm sure there is a sightly better way that they can film a show designed to see the new year in but is filmed sometimes up to a month earlier...but I just watch it for the music. I do often wonder what they would do if one of the acts died between the recording and NYE.

Just caught the end of it and thought that Florence Welch's version of My Baby Just Cares For Me was brilliant. I hadn't heard of her before but what a cracking voice.
