TBH I expect these certificates are aimed at kids unlikely to get much out of school. I used to see quite a few young 'uns who would fail this test when I bused to work.

I do agree with beanzontoast. CP or Bikeability should be a compulsory element in schools imo.

I remember my BF telling me about kids at his school who didn't know how to get a train when it came to going for Uni interviews - and that was back in the early 90's, so I'd imagine there are even more kids now who have no experience of anything but being ferried about by car....

Sounds like the qualifications for people with learning disabilities...ASDAN etc. Do they really offer these sorts of things to young people? I can't believe he agreed to pose by the bus!

"The idea is that it's about teaching young people self-reliance and emotional well-being through fun and challenging activities. We try to reward young people for their achievements and their social and personal development"

i don't think i'm being challenged enough in my life!!!

actually, they could be onto something. i worked with a girl once and her parents took her everywhere. the first time she got a bus she missed her stop because she didn't realise you had to stand up or ring the bell to let the driver know you want to get off... she just thought the bus stopped at every stop! and she was quite well educated too (probably why she'd never caught a bus before!)
