Yep, unless magnets stick to other metals.

are you sure the magnet isn't attracted to the steel brake cables? it's an easy mistake to make, apparently :blush:

Definitely steel the mangnet sticks good and proper all over, are steel handlebars particularly rare? Should I put them on ebay?

The bike is at least 20 years old.

i doubt they're worth anything to be honest. quality bikes had aluminium bars long before then, so they're no classic i'm afraid.

i have a bike with steel bars which would be worth something as they pre-date aluminium and are part of a classic bike.

although heavy, steel bars can at least be relied upon not to suffer from fatigue, unless they get really rusty.
