I know exactly what you mean, and yes I visualise things in the same way. If I'm thinking about an event in the month, I picture a giant calendar laid out (but it's floating in mid-air). If I'm counting small numbers, I always picture a dice and count in the pattern that the dots appear on it.

I see arithmetic problems in shapes - ie 7 + 8 go nicely together to make 15, as do 6 + 9. A bit like Tetris.
