Koolstop salmons are shocking in the wet - especially when descending down a 16%er with 17st aboard

what pads do you guys use??? i'm thinking of putting the swisstops yellows on as i have a spare set

The Swissstop Yellow are for carbon rims, incase you didnt realise.

I use Swissstop Black on my normal wheels and Yellow on my race wheels.

Koolstop pads are rubbish IME.

on the box they say carbon and alloy - i do have some blacks there too though - don't know how i got those though

Hmm, I don't have a box so couldn't say, mine came with my carbon wheelset (they are re-branded up as FFWD), I was under the understanding they were meant for carbon wheels but I could, and it looks likely, be wrong.

some reviews are saying good on alloy - some are saying good on carbon - will try the blacks out first, seen as i have both available

i was descending the mountains of the maerdy, rhigos and bwlch yesterday and it was very hairry when i knew the brakes just wasn't stopping me, ended up descending worse than bradley wiggins at the giro lol

i also suffered a hot rim blow out at the foot of the maerdy. was very scary indeed

My braking in the wet improved a lot when I started using Cole pink pads. Not that cheap though. £23.00 for four.

I use Koolstop Salmons as front pads and blacks on the rear. I've yet to have a problem stopping in wet or dry on them. If they're giving you problems in the wet, it may be they've worn down too much as they have a little raised bit that clears the water off the rim before they bite.

there about 3 rides old martin and have hardly any wear at all - there just rubbish at stopping on very steep descents in the wet. Yesterday i was scared to death descending some very steep mountains in south wales - back to the swisstop blacks that i used to have on my srams i think

Love my Swiss stop flash pro greens. Wet or dry they do the business and don't crud your wheels up in the wet

Before Swiss stop I tried Koolstop but could never stop the bu**ers from squealing.

I'm afraid that I didn't find Koolstop Salmons to be much good, either in the wet or the dry. I expected something pretty good having splurged £18 on four lumps of rubber. I'm using Clarks' CP240s at the moment and I'm really impressed with them. They are pretty cheap too.

how heavy are you?? what speeds and gradient do you descend??

trust me, descending the welsh mountains in the rain on sunday with gradients above 15% koolstop salmons were dreadful
