What would be needed to change a downtube shifter into a combo shifter besides the shifters themselves on a road bike?

Would be an old Dawes frame and forks to be converted but comes with nothing but a pair of wheels. No bb/dérailleurs etc. Think it has a cassette but not 100% sure.

As well as the shifters, (make sure they are the same speed as well, although there are some work rounds), you'll also probably need gear and brake cables, (with outers), and also a pair of THESE, they fit on the downtube in place of the old shifters.

What downtube shifters do you have now as I'm after some myself.

No idea, my step brother has been given a Dawes Super Galaxy? I think, but would be unable to use downtube shifter after his accident so asked me today if I could convert it. Up in the air atm whether he went flat bars but he likes the idea of having drops for when I get mine on the road. Literally just had a five minute look and can't remember whether they were there or not. I can let you know though once its in the workshop.

Thanks for the link.
