Ti is notoriously difficult to deal with, especially welding. It has to be welded in a zero oxygen atmosphere (iirc). I think the best think you can do is either call Sabbath to see what they say or sell the frame and buy a disc specific frame from some one like Enigma.

I have just emailed sabbath ian to see what they say

If it cant be done i will look into a winter cross bike with discs instead. Was just hoping with fingers, legs and arms crossed that it might be able to be done.

@ianrauk is technically correct that it needs a zero % Oxygen atmosphere to weld. But do so do most welding processes. Technically correct is the best correct

To weld it you need someone who's a kick arse weldor with a good tig welder and 99.999% pure argon. Tig welding any metal needs argon as a protective gas (almost, but we don't need to consider using Helium). This gas shield keeps the tungsten tip cooler them the metal and shields the weld pool therefore stoping the weld pool becoming contaminated with Oxygen. When welding Titanium it wouldn't be unusual to use an airtight box to weld in after flooding that with Argon.

If it's welded "in the open" It'll have subsidiary Argon introduced at the back of the weld.

The problem is that the argon gas can be blown away from the welding process far easier then say MIG or ARC. This is why you'll see ARC welding used outdoors etc. Someone walking past will affect the quality of the weld.

Finding the right person is likely harder to find then the process it's self. I have no idea as to the cost. At least €40's worth of gas even before the welder is turned on.

I'd just stick with having new disc compatible forks, and leave the original brakes at the back. Why make things harder/more expensive for yourself?

I intend to convert my Planet X Ti that way at some point in the future, having enjoyed the discs on my commuter bike.

That would just look odd to me.

I like it to be aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Apart from the welding issues described by Lanzecki above you'd have to be sure the frame could accept the stresses and you coud find a neat way of attaching the brake pipes to the frame. better to sell that frame and go for a newer generation of the same bike made for discs or another make that's disc-ready.

I am also excited about the arrival of Shimano's SIS/hydraulic disc setup and plan to look around this autumn for a bike ready built with it, rather than try to build something, which will always be more expensive and problematic.

Had an email back from sabbath and they have informed me the new sabbath september will have disc brake mounts - so will look at that when it comes out.

If not then i'm think of the Kinesis ATR or will so what comes out in the winter as i can still use c2w scheme

Co-incidently I saw a picture of one on the Kinesis Faceboke feed last night, it looks a nice bike.

OT, My arguement when buying my ti frame was it'd last me for life; I wonder if the argument disc brakes may save that life will wash
Thats the same argument i used too - im hoping she will just agree lol
