just wondering what people tend to have for breakfast pre-commute? there's a pretty steep hill about 2 miles into my commute nd i still seem to be half asleep by that stage, and have nothing to give as I climb it- compared to how i feel at the end of the commute... any breakfast tips welcomed ;) thanks

I can ride about 45 miles without breakfast before I get into trouble! Unless you have a very long commute I wouldn't worry too much - just have your regular breakfast (if it's healthy)

A cup of green tea and two slices of wholemeal toast and marmite. My commute is less than two miles now though.

Always 4 slices of wholemeal with honey, accompanied by two pots of coffee - proper stuff - not instant product

Daytime -always take a cheese sandwich (I can't cook anything else) one or two bananas, + whatever other fruit, a bit of sweet stuff - cake/malt loaf or something, loads of tea and then a chewing gum for homeward bound.

Take no notice of Lee - he's a maniac!

Porridge with maple syrup, couple of bananas, nettle tea with a touch of honey.

If you need an extra kick I'd suggest a sugary drink of some sort, possibly caffeine laden.
Or there are caffeine pills, which can work a treat too, just remember to eat though.

Nothing till I get to work.

Menu A
Home made branflakes and sultana mix (much cheaper to make it myself, and you have control over the sultana-ness)

Menu B
2 slices of toast (Marmite or jam or marmalade to suit)

Menu C (weekends - got more time)
Beanzontoast (no, really)
or
Bacon sandwiches

Most important that, where Menu A is used for breakfast, it it not accidentally repeated at bedtime, I find..

A bowl of whatever muesli-type concoction we have in the house, maybe with some added dried fruit or a sliced nana. A cup of coffee. But then I only do 7-8 miles to get to work.

I normally then feel the need for an apple within an hour or so of getting to work.
