My commute is 15 miles. I am a little tubby and like my food, so I'm trying to do stuff to help keep the pounds off.

I have now got to the point where I can do the 15 mile commute with no breakfast - but I have a good feed of some tuna in wholemeal cobs and a banana when I get to work. It does seem to help me control my weight.

But I do have a very strong cup of coffee in the morning to give me a kick kick-start before I cycle.

Couple of slices of Mrs B's all-bran loaf eaten on the train with a flask of coffee.

As I drive to station with the Brommie in the boot and cycle at the London end the nergy burst is in just the right place.

Lover of things that come in 3's
fluids before I leave, 20 miles to work, bowl of muesli, water and piece of fruit after I've showered. Lunch is whatever I've brought or the canteen has on offer, favourite would be stir fried noodles, plenty of veg and chicken or beef. Afternoon another piece of fruit and one or two cereal bars about 20 mins before I head for home. Pint of milk when I get in then go for a shower and eat properly afterwards.

just wondering what people tend to have for breakfast pre-commute? there's a pretty steep hill about 2 miles into my commute nd i still seem to be half asleep by that stage, and have nothing to give as I climb it- compared to how i feel at the end of the commute... any breakfast tips welcomed ;) thanks

Marketed in South Africa as the nutritional equivalent of a full cooked breakfast is my breakfast of choice. Other than that, if I run out I have the chocolate crunch from Aldi or Kellogs oatbakes. I can't function very well on my 7.5 mile morning ride without breakfast, but apart from having an actual cooked breakfast which time and lack of enthusiasm for getting out of bed doesn't allow for, those are about the only things I can face having for breakfast.
