Thanks for the advice, a couple of points I hadn't considered. Being a touch OCD about these things I'm waiting till tomorrow!

As a newbie to disc brakes I thought you were cleaning off the "molding compound" to enable grip on the disc ..now I find out its to lay a layer of pad on the disc that's assisting traction...I live and learn ..thanks
