Barnet,
When I first read the post my first thought was that it was really an advert for a company that needs funding for research and development. On the face of it the bike is just a tool to show what could be made using this technology, which is pretty good. I am not sure I would like to ride that particular bike though. What was the rachet type noise as he rode off on it ?

Well that's the first time I've seen so-called '3-D printers' used for something useful rather than ornaments and toys.

I see that smaller scale 3D printers can be bought for about $1000 (you have to build it yourself - like early computer kits) - so maybe the bloke saying about a decade for a DIY bike printer's about right.

Not sure I'll be replacing the Hewitt and the Windcheetah though

I saw it on breakfast telly yesterday, as well as hearing about it on R4 earlier. I thought that headset, or lack of, didn't look like it would work too well.

Isn't anyone else thinking "static electricity"?
