There's no online version, but my local free publication Active8, asks "Is Jack Britains oldest cyclist?"

Great Grandfather Jack Andrew age 94 has been cycling for 78 years. Jack hates the proliferation of Lycra and still wears the plus-fours his late wife made for him.

Jack lives locally to me and I have seen him in passing, I had no idea he was in his 90's. I must say, I'm very impressed that he's still riding, the terrain around here is very hilly, tough going for those of us half his age!

Well done Jack, I would like to be able to cycle when I would be that age. Presumably that is his wife on the tandem.

Guy I known is 75, still runs marathons, still rides 10 miles daily as he does his paper round.

He made the news a couple of years ago. Heavy snow, no one could get to work, trains didn't run, flights cancelled, but this pensioner battled round the villages of his round on his elderly Probike MTB and delivered every single paper. Shows what a bunch , lazy excuse makers the bulk of society has become.

I went to lunch with an old (=elderly) friend a couple of weeks ago. His problem is getting his leg over (ooo err misses). So he is looking for a step-though electric assisted bike. Good on him I say - he lives at the top of a hill. I hope that i will be active into my 90s.

Good for him, advice that he tries one first though. I have a step through electric bike that I bought when I was recovering from serious illness. It's great in that it got me back on the bike long before I was able to ride my ordinary bike, but it's VERY heavy and I'd have my concerns as to whether some elderly people would be able to manouvre it through doorways etc.

I had the privilege of meeting the late Ron Beams, who was a cyclist at 99

The group he belonged to had several nonagenarians, a smattering of octogenarians, and a whole group of youngsters in their 70's

There is also Robert Marchand...

In January this year he beat the present hour record of 24.35 km, with an impressive 26.9 km, making him the record holder for Centenarians, he is 103!

I believe there is also a US rider at this age.

Thanks. He has tried one. His wife did find it too heavy but he is fine with it.

They look like fun!

Yes, I've just got mine out to use again as I've got an injured knee and cycling the ebike puts alot less strain on it. Hadn't ridden it for a while - it always amazes me how it takes the effort out of the hills.
