My existing broadband contract with Plusnet is coming to an end soon so if they won't give me a decent, ie similar to a new customer deal on renewal I'll go elsewhere.
I'd rather stay with Plusnet as I've found them to be very good, reliable etc but ultimately money talks.

Anyway, alternatives are likes of Vodafone, EE, Onestream so was wondering if anyone has thoughts plus and minus on any suppliers? I'd rather not go to BT as they are more expensive and I've been with them in the past and they are a nightmare to deal with.

Note I can't get full fibre, just FFCC (fibre to cabinet) so speed I get is around 35MB/s.

Thanks.

Yes I'll be doing that but in meantime if anyone has thoughts on other suppliers be good to know.

I'll also add reliability will top price as well for me as wife needs reliable broadband for work. I realise that contradicts slightly my original post but I get a bit bloody minded if I think a business is trying to rip me off and broadband suppliers never seem to offer same deals to keep existing customers which to me seems daft.

I've 'negotiated' with Plusnet (we've been with them 23 years) and they still give us a better price than elsewhere, although this year they wouldn't drop the price (they have on a couple of occasions in recent years)

Not sure unreliable broadband's a thing anymore, is it?

Get best price via a comparison app and then phone Plusnet and ask them to beat or at least match it.

The issue though with some is customer service. I've always found Plusnet to be good whereas BT were an utter nightmare. So whilst connection might be OK most of the time it's how they respond if theres an issue.

So did you stay with Plusnet seeing as they wouldn't drop price?

Companies don’t seem to offer the best deals to existing customers anymore.
Good luck with the negotiations, but I had to leave BT recently because they refused to match other offers.

This, very much this. I don't understand loyalty to suppliers who royally shaft their customers, even if they do it nicely 🤭

They all use the same Openreach* fibre, so all your talking about on "reliability" is customer service

*Virgin use their own but if you can only get FTTC, then that probably isn't an option.

BT are "phasing out" their retail internet connection moving it all to EE - same company but different branding, different pricing and different customer services.
