My B17N has just snapped at the back of the clamp.

Now I'm not small, but I have seen considerably bulkier specimens on these.

Is this a common occurence? Or has there been a change in quality over the years? Or should I simply lay-off the pies for now the rest of my life?

Seems to happen occasionally. I'd send it back pronto. Mine have never snapped (touches wood) - I'd say I was fairly average at 85kg.

Hmmm, I'm a little "north" of 85kg...

Been a great saddle though - very comfy...

I did however think they had near legendary durability somewhat dissapointed it only lasted less than 2 years in everyday use.

My horrid OEM ritchey vector is seemingly immortal.

How old is it? I would send it back and see what they say.

I have a 1950s Rudge complete with original saddle it's in pretty good shape.

I'm actually wondering whether it was a combination of my weight plus a crappy cheap clamp on the seatpost.

Most seem to taper off towards either end, this one seems simply squared-off and it's exactly at this abrupt edge where it failed.

I'll try and send it back see what they say.
