Broken Rear Gear Changer

I was out riding and I tried to go into gear 1 and my rear gear changer just snapped off, any idea what I need. My bike is a GT Agressor and my gear changer is a Shimano Acera. Please help! ...

You need a new "gear hanger".

The dealer you bought the bike from may be able to help or try Halfords. If that fails google "BETD Hanger" and it should lead you in the right direction.

Can't say for sure, but the chain may have gone too far across and got jammed between the cog and the wheel. If that is the case then the gears need adjusting.
By the look of it, the cogs are also a bit dry and need some lubrication.
