Bromptons as commuting bikes

I've had a 6 speed Brompton for about 10 years. I love the fact that it folds so quickly and can be slung in the boot of my car easily. I take it everywhere.
I did get the roller blade wheels put on to replace the little easy wheels. It makes a big difference in hotel corridors....I like to stow the bike in my room.
I also had a seat pole extension added and this has made the ride much better for me. I can get more power to the pedals.
I've also got a Bike Friday Pocket Llama, which is fabulous to ride. The fold is disappointing and I wouldn't like to take it folded on a bus! The chain comes off every time I unfold it and I always seem to get grease all over me! I've watched 'how to' videos and practised a lot, but no significant improvement.
So, if I'm travelling it's the Brompton, but if I'm cycling from home it's the Bike Friday.....

I have a rolling commute on the side of the Pennines & do have experience of riding it on a Brompton, it is do'able for a hilly commute but you have to work at it, I much prefer my Birdy Blue; which is why I bought it vs Brommy & Dahon in the first place.

Brompton's are a lovely bike and a more than passable ride but do tend to have a reputation that in some cases outstrips their actual ability and aren't as good as folding alternatives that don't get raved over in quite the same way.
