I think that's the key: either you have a Brooks shaped backside when you get it, or, you put up with it for 2000km, and if you're lucky, then you'll have a Brooks shaped backside.

I mentioned up thread that a rubber mallet didn't soften my Spa Nidd, but a good soaking in rain did. Five years later it is much improved, more like wood than concrete now.

I swapped in the Flyer without changing the seat post. I can’t get the blighter level.

Am I missing something or do I need a new seatpost and if so, which?

Hmmm on the Flyer the saddle top is parallel to the rails like most saddles so there must be an adjustment for the angle of the rail clamp somewhere!

Tightening (Brooks make the nose nut as awkward to get at as possible!😉) and some Proofide.

Tried that. I did ride them for a good few years but in the end the Charge Spoon just seemed easier. I've recently got a Fabric Scoop Ti which in two rides is already a favourite. I have thought about the Cambium a few times though.

Indeed - if the saddle is on the bike. I found a cheap spanner and put a 90 degree bend on it so it fits when the Brooks is on the bike ;-)

I ride a standard B17 on my Temple Classic Electric and it's been great — ridden about 785 km around London on it and it's comfortable. The Rivendell version looks lovely, but at that price I'd stick with the standard one.
