Got soaked this afternoon, and attacked by hailstones.

I was going for a ride this evening but have decided it's too darned cold, especialy as my jacket and gloves are still wet.

Better get used to it though, it's a long time until spring 2012, and this winter most of my riding for exercise and mental calming will be in the dark.

Yesterday was the last school run in shorts for me I think, it was freeeeezing. Lol the head even commented on my long trousers when we all arrived this morning, seem to becoming the school's cycling nerd...

Had to change into the long sleeved windproof today, temp gauge read 4°C
kept the shorts mind.
i DO need full fingered gloves however, got into work and spent 10 mins almost crying as the sensation came back into my frozen fingers.
rest of me was fine tho.

I've decided it's now cold enough to find some winter longs as my knees are still recovering from this morning's commute, not sure why but I've still got that cold sensation. I've been so busy buying accessories I almost forgot about winter wear so am now on a desperate lookout for some reasonably priced bib-longs and undergloves as my Aldi winter gloves did nothing to stop my fingers going numb. Oh and a buff, I couldn't feel my face lol

Has anyone used an Altura Pocket Rocket? Claimed to be breathable?

No experience of how breathable it is, but I did read some good reviews which made me think of buying one. I tried one on and found it to be a little too short in length, even the size above the one recommended for my height. Went for a Night Vision in the end which covered my back a bit more. I'd recommend you try one on if you can - your opinion may differ.

Havng said that, the size they fold down to is brilliant so it's a shame it didn't fit.

This'll be my first winter on the bike. I use Conti Sport Contact slicks on my MTB. When should I be looking to put the nobblies back on?
