Man, did I get caught out today. It was 10° when I set off form work this evening. I'd put my long sleeved jersey/tights on. (My short sleeved jersey/shorts are in the panniers, but they may not get another outing this year!??) Within 5 mins of setting off I got absolutely drenched by the most evil rain shower ever. I don't usually mind a bit of rain but this was freezing and driven by a ferocious side wind. It wasn't just uncomfortable, it was downright painful on the side of my face, and the wind took my breath away so much that I was actually starting to worry there was something physically wrong with me as I couldn't breath properly! I very nearly stopped at a bus shelter, but managed to carry on. 10 mins later the rain stopped, the wind died down and the sun came out. Time to dig out the beanie hat and neck tube methinks?

Luckily, I bought a load of winter riding gear from Aldi a couple of weeks ago... Guess I'll be getting that out sooner rather than later...

BRRRRRUTAL  I dont mind admitting it I was spent when I got home this evening 16 miles 12 of which were north westerlyish into a 35mph SE wind at one point coming to a near standstill even the cars felt sorry for me and gave me a wide birth or was it the fact the bike and me was blown all over the place The gusts must of been 40ish at times i was fighting with the steerer just to keep it in a straight line.

Day off the bike for me tomorrow me legs have took a battering the last two days so its a WFH day for me

I am sick of this wind
Living near the east coast and travelling towards the sea each morning....
....I get the wind in my face in the morning and then it conveniently switches around to come from the west and give me a hard time home!
So...
...should I move house?
...should I take the bus?
...should I think about poisoning the world with my car?
...should I buy some better kit?

Not so sure and need advice!

I've recently bought some Northwave Winter bib tights and Winter Jersey. And yes, while I was freezing my nads off, they were sitting in my wardrobe. D O H !

They'll get used tomorrow though, along with my LIDL goggles, and maybe a neck tube.

Bring it on, Old man Winter, Jack Frost, and all the wind gods Boreas, Notus, Eurus, and Zephyrus.........is that the best you can do?
