I did a 20 mile ride a few nights ago which was a first for me (normally do around 10 per session)

I pushed myself reasonably hard

The next night my legs are full of bruises

Anyone suffered this and is it a cause for concern?

Visible bruises? Or aching legs that hurt like a bruise if you poke them?

I have NEVER experienced visible bruises from riding my bike except when involved in a crash or clonking a shin with a pedal etc. I.e. non impact bruises sound odd.

Visible bruises and yes from non impact which is strange

That is something I haven't come across, maybe in elderly people who sometimes bruise from very light impacts, i.e. there was an impact, but it was so light it wasn't noticed.

Where are the bruises exactly? Just trying to work out if you might have knocked yourself without noticing.

seems a bit odd.
Have never had bruises from cycling unless pedal strike on the legs or I have had an off.

I've got a lovely collection of bruises on my legs at the moment - one beauty from a particularly vicious pedal strike but I generally don't notice the strikes until the bruises come up. You don't have to feel the impact for the bruise to form.

Inadequate Fat LayerBody fat plays an important role in protecting you from bruises. If you have a thin or inadequate body fat layer, even a slightest bump may cause bruises on legs. Many people lack an adequate layer of fat on their arms as well as legs. Fat cushions cover an impact on the body and prevent bruises. If there is not enough fat layer, one is easily bruised. Thus, you may never realize which causal bump lead to bruises. Thus many thin people, children as well as old people are more prone to bruising for no apparent reason.

That may be the case as my legs are quite slim and I never get bruises on my belly ^_^
