Bryton Rider 35 Computer

I've just bought one of these as I wanted a do everything computer that wasn't too huge, had a very clear display, was very customisable, and worked. It also needed to seat securely on my stem without rattling like my last one did, and I also wanted a blinging computer to compliment my new bike - not much to ask is it

I've literally just got it set up, very easy, took about 20 minutes including unpacking, a quick pre-read and installation.

Once I can get out at weekend, (not using it on my fixed commuter), I'll put a review on here, but in the meantime if anyone's considering one of these and wants any info I'll certainly help if I can.

Best price I found was at Merlin Cycles here, Rider35 + Cad & HRM - Low stock warning is displayed

You can also buy it as just the computer here, Rider 35 Computer - Out of Stock Currently

I found a cracking review as well here, Review

This might be useful - it's actually setup by the South Africa importer, but it's the only related forum at the mo'.

Other than the official Bryton homepage, you might find additional info on the New Zealand importer's site:
http://www.bryton.co.nz/

(I tried the Rider 50 briefly - seemed a decent little device..I think I've since decided I want something a bit more gps/mapping than cyclocomputer..)

Cheers Buddy, I'll have a look at those. I decided to whack it on my fixed gear this morning for my commute, and it's very, very good indeed. There's more information on here than a Nasa space launch needs

The speed seems accurate and the mileage is bang on. I plugged it in when I got home, and looking through the details amazed me. I now know not only how far I've ridden, but how many miles uphill, how many downhill, average speed for both etc, etc, etc

This is clearly unneccesary for my short commute, but when I get out on the Cannodale at weekends it will be fantastic. I just wish I'd had it when I went to the Lake District last weekend, still, it's a great excuse to go back and do it again

The Bryton Rider 30 has now been replaced by the Bryton Rider 35, which I think was due to spat between Garmin and Bryton over patent infringement. From what I can see the Rider 35 is identical to the Rider 30 apart from having a new, slightly squarer shape. I have the 35 but my mate has an original 30.

I would highly recommend the Rider 35. It's quite compact and allows you to view six data fields at a time, which means you don't have to keep pressing buttons when you are riding. GPS is incredibly accurate and the web-based data analysis system works really well. I love being able to email the links of my training routes to my mate as it does his head in when he realises I have done it much faster than him!

Bought mine from here as they seemed to be the cheapest at the time. Very professional and efficient. Courier even gave me an accurate deliver slot!

It is also available as just the unit if you don't need the HRM belt or cadence sensor

Hi Trev, it's actually the 35 I got, I posted the correct link on my first post, RIDER 35 but the wrong pic, D'oh!. Let's sort that out,
000162_s1.jpg

Sounds like I got a real bargain at £167.95  Merlin are currently out stock with the sensor and HRM, although they are showing low stock of the unit on it's own at £111.95, HERE.

I went out yesterday for a 30 mile ride, and it lost the cadence reading about half way round, I couldn't be bothered to stop and have a look, going to throw a new battery in the sensor and see if that sorts it.

Have you had any issues? I'm loving the information overload it gives, and I find the website easy to use too.

I was thinking about getting a rider 35 instead of a Garmin Edge 500 until I started asking basic questions on the Bryton forum as to how it could be set-up with a power meter. The response from Bryton was poor and I also read another post on the forum from a guy who's having issues with his unit, but can't get Bryton to do anything about it. Put me right off (for now).

Mine's working fine, and as I don't use a power meter that's not an issue for me. I just wanted a comprehensive computer that wasn't too big and has a very clear screen . The Rider 35 scores full marks on all my criteria

I think they could be very good and I was desperate not to buy another Garmin, but I was far from filled with confidence based on my interaction with Bryton. I'm glad yours is behaving though - I might think about getting one again in a few months time when there're more reviews and Bryton have sorted proper documentation out for power meter users.
