BT Vision/BT Sport

Can anyone help me understand:
1) what BT Vision is?
2) what BT Sport is and how it differs/or not from being part of BT Vision?
3) what it costs?
4) how to get it?

I have seen the adverts and it all looks quite good, access to extra channels which are of interest and not giving money directly to Murdoch which is even better.

But I have been trying for weeks (well, over the Christmas/NY period) to make sense of it from the BT webpage but I cannot fathom it out at all - I've used the FAQ pages and end up more confused than when I started off!

I have BT broadband, and some of the blurb online indicates I should get BT Sport free, but then it goes on about Infinity and BT TV or Apps. or other stuff that makes no bloody sense at all.

So can anyone please explain it to me in simple easy-to-understand language? :girl:

1)In very, very simple terms BT vision is basically a (kind of different) 'cable' service.

It's actually been around for many years, but was regarded as the most **** poor, godawful tv service in the UK and with very good reason. More recently it's had a lot of revamps and is a bit better.

2) BT sport is BT genital waving and spending millions upon millions of pounds on an equivalent of Sky Sports, which they think will greatly enhance the platform's desirability. See point 1.

3).It's tied into BT phone packages and you get 'bolt ons' for other stuff.

Infinity I would think you cannot get unless you're in a much less rural location than your last house.

P.S. if I remember you only get BT sport for free if you have infinity and BT tv, if that is what you were asking.

I get it through Virgin Media..
Firstly it isn't bad, I prefer the ESPN part of it myself.

Infinity is the superduper fibre optic broadband that is being installed in a lot of BT exchanges the length and breadth of the UK.
I'm guessing you can check if your local exchange is 'Infinity' enabled on their website.
If you have Infinity , life gets easier for streaming, the faster your broadband the better (mostly) you can stream.
If you have a smartphone and a BT broadband account, you download the app and can watch on tablet or phone. Unlimited data if using outside WiFi but you can hook up to all those BT hotspots....

1) BT Vision, is BT's own TV package and set top box recorder, basically freeview plus a few other channels, and now with a full catchup service via broadband.
2) BT sport is BT's own Sports channel. If you have BT Broadband then you can watch BT Sport for free on an tablet via an app, or on SKY for free, if you have a sky subscription, you just have to call BT up to activate it. If you are watching via an app you would need a good internet signal as BT Sport is an internet only service. If you dont have SKY and you want to watch BT Sport on an actual TV then you need to subscribe to BT Vision,

As Marinyork says, if you dont have Infinity then it isnt realy a viable option.

BT Sport on your web browser or as an App is available free to Infinity Broadband users - I am one. Whatever the browser uses for video is complete sh*te. It takes several minutes to open and goes offline with useless error messages with frustrating regularity. The App (I use the Andriod one) not much better. And the website is sh*te too.

I was reduced to streaming foreign content to watch yesterday's Man U - Spurs match - it really is that poor. Considering the zillions they have spent on rights - quite absurd.

My mum has BT Broadband and i have just signed up for there fibre optic thingy so i now get BT Sport for free. I set her thing up for her on her I-Pad it was easy (if i can do it anyone can). You must have a BT user account to view your bill online etc which i assume you have as you have there broadband ? Just download the app on to your said device and then open it it will ask you to login so enter your BT details login password etc and then it will take you to your account homepage scroll down and click activate BT Sport App and then hey presto.

Ive not experienced any viewing issues with it like others seem to have though ?

P.P.S I've been trying to find an easy graphic with the tv packages from BT, but they all seem to be out of date.

So for non-infinity options it costs £21 a month for

Upto 16Mbs broadband with unlimited non 10Gb limit.
70 tv channels
catch up
weekend calls

-----------------------------------
BT vision essentially costs £5 a month and then you add on an extra £2 for other channels and then more for other packs.

The £2 might be interesting to you as it includes British Eurosport and British Eurosport 2 - although you might have to put up with Sean Kelly.

If you're on the 10Gb limit one tv + broadband will be £18 not £21.

Just got the app after a mail from BT telling me it would be free.
Very good, quality of the pic is great.

Anyone have any idea if they'll ever be showing cycling? I've had to watch all the spring classics and minor tours on crappy Eurosport feeds so far...
