Hi Guys

Looking to pick up a bike in the next couple of weeks, i could stretch to around £800 for my first road bike - seems like there is alot out there, I have wittled it down to 2 - the B'twin or the Specialized?

I love the specialized in Red but do need to see it in person. Or do save myself 300 and do minor upgrades to the b'twin.

Or are there any bikes any of you guys would recommend to look at - Im quite new to this so want to make sure I cover all bases and get the best value for money - £800 is very top budget and that is not accomodating for clipless pedals or cleats - I already have a top D lock and secondary cable, lights and a helmet

If your already talking about upgrades on the T5, then clearly the spesh is a better bet

The B'twin is excellent value for money and a very good bike, popular on here, saving £300 is very tempting. The Allez is also a good bike, but Specialized seem to charge more to get less than the other big brands.

As another suggestion, there is the Giant Defy 3. A good £100 under top budget and beginner-friendly gearing range. My Defy 2 has been absolutely reliable.

I am your Father
Cube Peloton Race or Pro (2013) or Giant Defy 1 2013 (if you can find one).

2014 Cube Peloton Race or Giant Defy 1 on C2W (if available at your work).
The savings even on lower rate earners are around 30% - Tax & N.I avoidance bagging you a £1k bike with Shimano 105 for around £700/550 depending on your earnings.

No brainer really.

I love the cube peloton.... I'm currently in my works c2w scheme so have to wait until May until I can apply again. They do it through cyclesolutions and they do not offer the cube sadly
