Hi does anybody use a bum bag for longer rides or just make do with pockets on the back of your jersey?
Thinking about where to put extra layers and stuff as the winter approaches? Cheers, Justin.

you could consider a smallish under-saddle bag

How long would a ride need to be for you not to be able to fit all of your stuff in a jersey pocket and maybe a tiny saddle bag!

Thanks for the replies, yes I know it's not ideal, I have an under saddle bag but that's nearly full with tube, multi tool etc, so that just leaves pockets. So say you go out early and it's cold and wet where do you put your jacket etc when it warms up? I can't see my pockets being big enough.

Have seen a few people use them.
I find that jersey pockets and a saddle pack are more then enough to carry everything I need.

Nonsense!

Ian prefers to equip himself 'to cover all eventualities' on a FNRttC.

I use on to hold my phone, pump and café lock (tubes go in stash pack under seat) I have got a couple jersey with pockets but never bother using the pocket spose I should really...... I don't notice the bum bag really....

I have used one occasionally when I have too much to go in the saddle bag but don't want to take the pannier equipped bike, it's ok, better than a rucksack in that you don't get as sweaty but obviously not ideal.

sounds like you need a lightweight jacket that will roll up into your back pocket - the thicker heavier jackets are usually too bulky for this

As long as I breathe, I attack.
i use a waterbottle with the top cut off in the second holder to keep gilet or windproof in , on a winter club run i just top up the one bottle at the cake stop as most cafes will fill it up if you ask and you can always carrry a tab/ sachet if you need something in it .Did a 70 miler on 1 bottle + a coffee the other week .
