How long would a ride need to be for you not to be able to fit all of your stuff in a jersey pocket and maybe a tiny saddle bag!

Any length of ride where I took my camera and a couple of lenses, ie all of them!

Hi does anybody use a bum bag for longer rides or just make do with pockets on the back of your jersey?
Thinking about where to put extra layers and stuff as the winter approaches? Cheers, Justin.

I use one but not for extra clothes - tools, pump, grub, keys, phone and camera.

I prefer them all nicely bagged up than stuffed into rear pockets.

I've got a Lifeventure one that I've had for about 20 years - it converts into a very light rucksack so is ideal for taking on a long remote solo ride and then deciding on the way back that you might get pick up a few bottles of beer. Plus it is good to have a carrying solution should you happen upon a Calvatia gigantea. It's true that you can fit a lot of stuff in jersey pockets, but I don't like them to be overstuffed, and if I'm carrying food I like it to be proper doorstep sarnies or pork pies and and not some vile gel thingy.

Just an update, I bought a karrimor ultra light running 2l bum bag from sports direct £8.99, used it on my 100 mile sportive on Sunday and have to say it was really useful! The day started off really cold so it provided extra space to stow layers when they came off later in the day. It wasn't too much of a hindrance and had no issues with the strap round my waste.
