I was a joint leader on a 2 week walk through Knoydart run by an OPC. We were living on Raven freeze dried rations left at caches. On the first morning we took it in turns to pop behind the bothy with the expedition entrenching tool and strangely, everybody came back looking mystified and shaking their heads. When my turn came I found out the reason - nipped off a nice long one which was normal brown at the leading end graduating to bright green at the tail end! They stayed green for the rest of the fortnight, which was a subject of much discussion, as you can imagine!
