Sorry to hear that - I'd offer you my BSO (Sir Squeeky Bike), but it is getting a bit decrepit in its BSO old age (AKA about 5 years old) that I doubt anyone would even want to steal it!!
We were burgled once when I was 5, and was scared sh**less that they would come back again for quite a while.
They had entered through our (myself and my big brother) first floor bedroom window, over looking the back garden, which was a main window with a tiny bit that opened at the top - whoever got through that must have been very small or incredibly agile/flexable (a theory backed up by the fact that my brother had built Lego houses and had sat them on the floor just below, and they were totally untouched).
We came back and I was wondering what Dad had done with the TV, and where everything else was
but were quickly escorted next door, who hadn't seen or heard a thing (and one of them was in the Police too).As well as the TV, video, Hifi, etc (this was the late '80s), the bas*ards took many pieces of old and sentimental jewelery belonging to my Mum.
Needless to say, the Police came, took finger prints, etc, but we never heard anything more about it.
They had escaped through the back garden and out into the lane behind (where presumably there was a car/van), and I was convinced that I would meet them doing our house again or someone else's if I went into the lane.
I was on the lookout for people wearing bandit masks for ages!
