New to cycling in bury Lancashire area, anyone got any good routes or know of any social fun riding groups that don't go mad on the distances as not up to standard yet.

Cheers

I am in Bradley Fold, so not far from Bury. There are plenty of nice rides in the area, but most involve a few hills of some sort! If you want to go out for a spin let me know. I go out a few evenings and do about 10 miles or so and normally try to get out on a Sunday and take a longer route. There is a guy on here (gaz vickers) in Heywood that has only just started, so maybe you could get together and do some rides?

Hi

Thanks for the reply, yeah I noticed Gaz Vickers on a few threads. How long have you been cycling? I do agree aswell there are plenty of hills in area!!!!! I went through ramsbottom that was a test for me.

Thanks for offer of a ride, just starting a new job so once I'm settled in I will definitely give you a shout. You off on a ride this weekend.

I have been cycling just over a year now, although I did a lot of cycling when I was younger. I have done about 3 thousand miles in that year, mostly commuting from Bredbury to home which is 20 miles each way.
I will be out tomorrow morning to put a few miles on my new bike, dont know where I will be going yet though!

I bought a second hand Specialised Allez sport. I have a few bits to put on it to upgrade the groupset and the wheels need a little bit of TLC, but pleased with it so far.
I do a route from Bradley Fold, through Radcliffe and then Bury and home about 2 or 3 times a week, its only 10 miles but keeps the legs turning.

Yeah that's the most important bit that I've found, just a little route is better than a few days off, keeps everything ticking over better. Will try for a short one tomoz hopefully.
